In every company, we have situations where some legacy products. Legacy can be in sense of programming language OR platform OR UI OR features OR anything else you think 'legacy'! But still we need to work on it because we have clients using it and we need to provide maintainability/support for them.
Only cash can not make the developers happy. You should provide them good environment so that they can pay attention to their work.
Another thing is no technology is bad OR legacy OR older. Thing is if your company needs to maintain it, then you must keep it going. But keep all standards for designing, coding, testing, code review, interactive sessions etc...
Also you can motivate them to convert your legacy code to some new platform for better performance and maintainability. Every company does that even once. Why?I think, because they want to compete with other market products.
Also provide them some cool sessions for other technologies which are used in your company but they don't know or use. Let them be deeply in the things, give them proper time and support and be problem solving. Main goal is to deliver on time with less rework and bugs.
Provide some rewards towards their work and keep them happy about their work. After all work is what we do together. If the team feels right, they will do right and develop right.
Until your product works fine without any problem and client is happy then you can think to add new feature to it. Today technology is better and we can integrate different applications without any programming language bar. You can do new development in new-age languages and integrate them with your product, which will keep your product ready for today's competition.
Hi friends, many of you will think that i am addicted to IMing.Yeah,may be but i like to discuss about different IMs.It is one way through which the world is connected.
Mostly we all use different jabber clients for different purposes.Some having it for personal private office network to avoid heavy bandwidth usage,some uses gmail and other jabber based services.There are many jabber clients listed on jabber.org, but recently they have changed the way to represent it.Now they allows users to rate their favorite client which are arranged on OS bases.
I am talking about windows based IMs.And no others would be of interest because of less nice options for other OS. Say, for Linux pidgin and for MAC adium is there.On windows, i have used pidgin,Gajim,Psi,spark and Tkabber. And as per me, first three are better.Currently i am using Gajim.Check the list in attached image.You can see how Gajim got ahead of Spark.May be because spark is heavy java based thing which just sits in your memory eating lots of memory and create every other program you run!But my surprise is Psi.It is on top!And yeah it is not so good as compared to Gajim.But though many people have rated it better.Yeah,everyone has his choice.Psi 0.12 RC release is there,but its not having such great improvements to rate 5 star!And i am waiting since a long time for newer and better version of Gajim,but i think its development is on shelf!But still its usable, with older GTK+.Newer GTK+ is creating problems.Lets see where this competition goes.Its based on if any new IMs will be added or these will be improved.And what new thing will be introduced?Like video/Audio chat,Phone calling or something new we can't thing right now? :) share your idea what new can be introduces in jabber clients which you want or you think can be of our benefit.

Though servicemix is widely used and very nice ESB framework, it has some basic problems.The one i am talking about here is very little thing but it can be annoying if you forget this or don't know this.
While creating and sending NormalizedMessage object from any data, after doing that if you read data using NormalizedMessage.getContent() method and send the message object with exhchange to deliveryChannel, using DeliveryChannelImpl.send(MessageExchange) method, then you will get null exception in DeliveryChannelImpl class.
Yes this is true.I don't know why, but it removes content from the message object.Only the content is removed and the properties are still there.
You can read properties from it in same component as many times as you want.If you are forwarding same message to next component, properties will automatically goes.But if you read content once, you must set it again :(.
Also remember that if you need to make new MessageExchange, then you must copy all properties and attachments using TransformComponentSupport.copyPropertiesAndAttachments(outExchange,inMsg,outMsg) method.Then all your data from one message will be copied to another message.
So keep checking this if you getting null Exceptions while sending message through DeliveryChannel.
I know this is not the first one to use but i am a newbie to Ubuntu and also installing Linux after about 4 to 5 years.I like you to use Linux and forget windows because Linux is free,open,simple,learning station.It doesn't hides anything from you.
Are you a windows user like me who dont qwant troubles of installing linux?Reason can be any but its a trouble i know.
We need to format the disk, remove windows ,install linux with great care and then again install windows over it becasue you can't leave without it.
Actually i want to get rid of windows and want to move on linux.But its not easy as my development and aother things are to be set on linux.
Then i seen site of wubi, the installer which installs linux on windows like any other software you do.i found it too easy.I just downloaded the latest ubuntu 8.04 LTS (long term service) ISO file from internet.When i loaded it into virtual drive, wubi popped up.
And your task done. Just give it a Drive having 8 to 10 GB space, give 8 to 10 GB space for installation,choose your username & pass. and click 'install'! simple!
It will install ubuntu in the drive,backup the ISO file,and asks for reboot.When you reboot, it will show you 'ubuntu' with windows XP in windows MBR!its great.And after choosing ubuntu from the OS choice menu, it will install it in 15 minutes.
Loing and enjoy linux of you know it.Learn new things,try to used to terminal!And you can simply unistall it from windows' add/remove menu.Isn't its great?
best thing about latest Ubuntu 8.04 is,
-easy install/unistall from windows.
-network configuration for internet is autodetect in most cases.
-easily you can add/remove programs from system.It will download new packages from internet to install.
-includes most needed programs pre-installed.(Firefox,pidgin etc.)
And i suggest you to get below listed packages from add/remove first to get your multimedia on,
-restricted media formats
-VLC

You are no doubt reading this article because you are wondering why on earth there are nearly a dozen processes running with the name svchost.exe. You can't kill them, and you don't remember starting them… so what are they?
So What Is It?
According to Microsoft: "svchost.exe is a generic host process name for services that run from dynamic-link libraries". Could we have that in english please?
Some time ago, Microsoft started moving all of the functionality from internal Windows services into .dll files instead of .exe files. From a programming perspective this makes more sense for reusability… but the problem is that you can't launch a .dll file directly from Windows, it has to be loaded up from a running executable (.exe). Thus the svchost.exe process was born.
Why Are There So Many svchost.exes Running?
If you've ever taken a look at the Services section in control panel you might notice that there are a Lot of services required by Windows. If every single service ran under a single svchost.exe instance, a failure in one might bring down all of Windows… so they are separated out.
Those services are organized into logical groups, and then a single svchost.exe instance is created for each group. For instance, one svchost.exe instance runs the 3 services related to the firewall. Another svchost.exe instance might run all the services related to the user interface, and so on.
So What Can I Do About It?
You can trim down unneeded services by disabling or stopping the services that don't absolutely need to be running. Additionally, if you are noticing very heavy CPU usage on a single svchost.exe instance you can restart the services running under that instance.

For those who don’t know, the middle mouse can become quite useful too, if one know how to use it properly.
In this post, I will show you 6 tips to supercharge your Mozilla Firefox with the middle mouse button , thus making your web browsing experience better than before.
1- Click on a link with the middle mouse button to quickly open a link in a new tab. No more right click -> “Open Link in new tab”!
2- Press the Control (Ctrl) button and scroll the mouse wheel backward to increase Firefox’s font size. Scroll it forward to decrease the font size.
3- Press the Shift button and scroll the mouse wheel forward to move a page forward and scroll backwards to go the previous page.
Below are Mozilla Firefox’s about:config hack to modify hidden preferences (mouse related). Check out here on how to modify about:config.
4- Change the value of middlemouse.paste to true. This will let you paste a clipboard content to any text field with the middle mouse button.
5- Change the value of middlemouse.scrollbarPosition to true and restart your Firefox. The next time you click on a scrollbar location with the middle mouse button, Firefox will center the screen to that position.
6- Change the value of mousewheel.withaltkey.action to 1. This will enable you to scroll document by one page while pressing the Alt button.

I have been using Miranda IM since 6 to 8 months or so. It is the best open source chat IM client. Its very light weight and supports many facilities.
It supports AIM, IRC, MSN, Yahoo, Jabber (XMPP protocol means gmail will work and any local LAN chat also works).
Basic architecture is plug in based. You can add different kinds of plug ins as per your needs.I will show here which plug ins you must have after installing it so it looks good and gives some good functions.
The most basic plug in is 'send/receive messages' which is in built and supports simple sending and receiving of messages. All protocol plug ins are also provided with the setup.You need to find more plug ins from add ons from Miranda site.
TabSRMM
This is very good plugin.
It supports
- tabbed message windows for multiple IMs.
- Log/history view of previous chat in the IM.
- Send message to multiple users at once.
- And many other cool things which are not in srmm.
This plug ins is very advanced version of SRMM you can say.I am suggesting this one only because with this, you can use it like any other. You can also find smilyadd plug in to add basic smilies to your chat. But this one is most needed.
History++ (History plus plus)
This is very advanced version of basic log viewer for all previous chat.
Basic log viewer shows all chat in listbox view. Means you need to select particular datetime to see the chat.
History++ will show you whole chat done for particular contact to till date in one view all text! isn't it great?You can also search in that log view.See the image below.
I will provide more good plug ins which may be of interest because of their usefulness. I generally avoid skinny things used for UI changes only :)

People are always curious about how to use maximum space on blogger. The default templates are very simple and disgusting. We need something new after all. So take any template from blogger or another where you can get blogger compatible templates. And then do changes as per the instructions.
First goto your HTML template code and save it in your machine before starting changes.

Supported sample rates range from 44.1KHz up to 192KHz, with bit depths of 16, 20 or 24 bits. A DVD-Audio contains both DVD-Audio content (in the AUDIO_TS folder) and DVD-Video content (in the VIDEO_TS folder) and has the DVD-Audio logo. The audio in the AUDIO_TS folder can be either Linear Pulse Compression Modification (abbreviated LPCM, which is uncompressed) or Meridian Lossless Packing (abbreviated MLP, which is losslessly compressed). Usually, a DVD-Audio contains 5.1ch MLP / 2.0ch MLP or 5.1ch MLP / 2.0ch LPCM. There is also audio present in the VIDEO_TS folder, but of lower quality (that is with a lower sample rate and a lower bit depth). More information can be found here. A DVD-Audio can be encrypted. The encryption is called Content Protection for Prerecorded Media (CPPM), which uses a media key block (MKB) to authenticate DVD-Audio players. In order to decrypt the audio, players must obtain a media key from the MKB, which also is encrypted. The player must use its own unique key to decrypt the MKB. If a DVD-Audio player's decryption key is compromised, that key can be rendered useless for decrypting future DVD-Audio discs. DVD-Audio discs can also contain digital watermarking technology, typically embedded into the audio once every thirty seconds. The purpose of this guide is the following:
- It explains how to decrypt and re-encode the audio of your DVD-Audio to FLAC (which is an open source lossless audio codec). This enables you to play your re-encondings on your PC without any hassle (using open source tools).
- The above will be done retaining higher quality than the audio counterpart that is located on the video section of the disc.
As of today, it is not possible to decode the MLP tracks of your DVD-Audio using open source (or even free) tools. So you need to get one of the following two tools:
- The Sonic filters "Sonic HD Demuxer" and "Sonic Cinemaster@Audio Decoder 4.3.0". They are directshow filters contained in the package "Sonic.CinePlayer.HD.DVD.Decoder.v4.3.rar".
- Surcode MLP.
If you want to use AviSynth (without creating intermediate WAV files) then you need to get the Sonic filters somewhere. As of today, 192kHz 24bit MLP tracks are not supported by the Sonic filters, so you are forced to use Surcode MLP in that case. The Sonic filters which support MLP decoding are the following:
