Zemanta - Enhances your writeup with suggested images, links, videos...

Guys guys, this is my second post of today, i just can not stop myself sharing this with you. Its very nice tool. This tool does is to try to help you making your work looks more creative.

while you write your blog post in Blogger, Zemanta opens up a sidebar next to the Blogger post editor. After you've written a few sentences, Zemanta analyzes the words in your post and suggests images and video that are relevant to your post; with one click, it inserts them into your post.


Check out the screenshot, click on it view in full size. I have written "Firefox is a nice browser", the text i have pointed with green arrow. and it has suggested me links, tags,images in the sidebar etc...

Yeah may be the main image it has given has nothing to do with firefox, but i said, ' It analyzes the text" so..we will understand, it can happen :).

Torrent sites blocked by Trojan...

A trojan named Troj/Qhost-AC has been spotted on torrent sites labeled as a keygen for popular software. But in a strange surprise, the trojan would modify the users host file, rather than generating a key, changing popular torrent web sites like, The Pirate Bay, Suprbay (The Pirate Bay forum) and Mininova, the two most popular torrent sites on the internet to 127.0.0.1, making it impossible to visit these sites.

The Trojan caused pop-ups on users screens and played a sound file saying "downloading is wrong". The Trojan didn't install any other spyware or malware onto the victims PC, other than blocking the three web sites, something that many users thought was strange.

I know this is not so harmful trojan,but only if you know the technical details.For novoice users it can block their daily torrent spot.So,beware and very before you download torrents using vertor.com

A firm Bit9, who listed 12 most vulnerable applications on windows,has taken Firefox on top of the list.

The browser has earned the reputation from Mozilla patching 10 vulnerabilities which could be used to gain control, access, or execute miscellaneous code via buffer overflow, malformed URI links, javascript, documents and third party tools.

The browser is well respected throughout its open source community. Users can download add-ons, themes and many other tweaks that users can be used to adjust, modify and tweak their browser for maximum performance and appearance.

Bonjour - Zeroconf Service discovery protocol

Hi everyone, sorry i have been too busy since last 2 months in my new job. You know guys when we change job we need to learn lots of new things (Specifically, we IT guys :( ).

Now everyone has this problem that which protocol should be used for local corporate LAN chat.Basically now a days many things are available but i think most popular one is jabber.

You can simple go to jabber.org, get good open source/freeware jabber server and client, and chat on LAN. But this needs your company to install jabber server on local server, and they can see what you are chatting in logs :).

So better you get bonjour from Apple, which is a zero config protol. It will automatically detects all PCs and printers in LAN and show you in you buddy list. You just get it from apple's site and intall you specific OS version. As a client, you can use Pidgin.

Check the image for pidgin configuration of bonjour on you local network.You must install the bonjour library from Apple which is free.

Google Chrome - reasons to avoid

This is something really we should consider.I read this on neowin. Google chrome is a big thing these days.Everyone is talking about this small piece. But here users have submitted the flaws and vulnerability in this browser. It talks about what the users must keep in mind before use it because just the name of google. Google has released the thing without the patch for the problems.

Neowin said,

"The first, is the popular "carpet bomb" vulnerability that still exists within Chrome, as pointed out on our forums by our member matessim. This vulnerability allows malicious websites to drive by download and execute programs on your machine. Our visitors may remember the uproar that this same vulnerability caused for Safari users, and that Apple patched the carpet-bombing issue with Safari v3.1.2. Chrome is vulnerable to this exploit because it is based on the same engine, WebKit 525.13, and Google did not patch or update the engine before releasing the software.

The other, and less technical, problem with Chrome exists in its EULA. More specifically, the point that would seem to give Google rights to anything you post on the Internet while using their browser, mostly in conjunction with the promotion of its services."

As the google EULA says,

"By submitting, posting or displaying the content you give Google a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free, and non-exclusive license to reproduce, adapt, modify, translate, publish, publicly perform, publicly display and distribute any content which you submit, post or display on or through, the services. This license is for the sole purpose of enabling Google to display, distribute and promote the services and may be revoked for certain services as defined in the additional terms of those services."

Which should not be in some browser which is an Open Source piece and expected to be a good software from a reputed company. I mean what google wants to prove?

So please think before you use it without the patch released and about your information sharing with google :).

Google launches new browser!

Google is launching an open source web browser to compete with Internet Explorer and Firefox.

The browser is designed to be lightweight and fast, and to cope with the next generation of web applications that rely on graphics and multimedia. Called Chrome, it will launch as a beta for Windows machines in 100 countries, with Mac and Linux versions to come.

"We realized... we needed to completely rethink the browser," said in a blog post by Google.

The new browser will help Google take advantage of developments it is pushing online in rich web applications that are challenging traditional desktop programs.

Google has a suite of web apps, such as Documents, Picasa and Maps which offer functionality that is beginning to replace offline software.

Is this will be a successful browser, because there are many of them now rocking the market. Firefox,Safari and IE will face a tough competition?Is this a way to kill all other companies or so, because google is entering in everything on the internet now.May be this is helpful to growing technology,but may be it can make monopoly or something like that.Lets hope a better Open source thing from google.

More Security on Gmail now

This is what is expected since long.May be Gmail is safe as we think but excessive usage of Ajax and java script can be injurious to privacy and security!

I read this on gmailblog.They have added support for remote log off now.If you had logged in from another PC last time and forgot to log off,next time it will show you the IP address with a link for more details. On details, you will get more details regarding concurrent access to the account and recent activities.Which will show account type, access type and IP addresses with time of access.

Best jabber clients for Windows...

Hi friends, many of you will think that i am addicted to IMing.Yeah,may be but i like to discuss about different IMs.It is one way through which the world is connected.

Mostly we all use different jabber clients for different purposes.Some having it for personal private office network to avoid heavy bandwidth usage,some uses gmail and other jabber based services.

There are many jabber clients listed on jabber.org, but recently they have changed the way to represent it.Now they allows users to rate their favorite client which are arranged on OS bases.


I am talking about windows based IMs.And no others would be of interest because of less nice options for other OS. Say, for Linux pidgin and for MAC adium is there.

On windows, i have used pidgin,Gajim,Psi,spark and Tkabber. And as per me, first three are better.Currently i am using Gajim.

Check the list in attached image.You can see how Gajim got ahead of Spark.May be because spark is heavy java based thing which just sits in your memory eating lots of memory and create every other program you run!

But my surprise is Psi.It is on top!And yeah it is not so good as compared to Gajim.But though many people have rated it better.Yeah,everyone has his choice.Psi 0.12 RC release is there,but its not having such great improvements to rate 5 star!And i am waiting since a long time for newer and better version of Gajim,but i think its development is on shelf!But still its usable, with older GTK+.Newer GTK+ is creating problems.

Lets see where this competition goes.Its based on if any new IMs will be added or these will be improved.And what new thing will be introduced?Like video/Audio chat,Phone calling or something new we can't thing right now? :)

Throw it away: Virgin and BPI oposite to illegal downloaders

Virgin Media and the British Phonographic Institute (BPI) are to send warning letters to customers they believe are downloading or distributing music illegally. The announcement represents the first such public deal between the BPI and an ISP.

The pair hope that the new campaign will avoid users risking disconnection and possible legal action.

"Virgin Media's fibre optic broadband is a great platform for people who want to download lots of music,"

said Virgin Media in a statement.

"But we want them to do so without infringing the rights of musicians and music companies."

Customers whose accounts appear to have been used to distribute music in breach of copyright will receive "informative letters" from Virgin Media and the BPI.

What's this? I mean no one is free? This is too much. I mean all the artists and makers of movies and music are already getting much more then they need. They are 'they' because of people like them. People like them because maximum people watch or here them, out of them many are using pirated copies but it makes them more fans. They say they loss money, but i think they got popular with piracy. What you think? If Virgin media is doing this, then what you could download you can understand ;). So better don't use it, throw away it and take some another connection if possible which is not having such crappy rules about how your should use the network after paying much money to keep their mouth shut!

I think all media must be free to public once its out of theaters or published. If they don't like piracy, don't buy bulk pricey expensive DVDs,CDs etc. They made by us, can be fallen by us!

Microsoft Videos BETA: A Silverlight Promotion?

Microsoft Videos lets us explore and watch Microsoft's collection of online video. The whole experience is built using Microsoft Silverlight platform. The site is a collection of all types of Microsoft videos which includes demos, advertisements, tutorials, press releases, Microsoft Research videos etc. We can scan through Quick Picks for the latest videos, or enter a search for a particular video and we can also choose from one of the given Video Categories.

I have checked the site. It seems quite good for developers who want to lear new MS technologies using video tutorials. Ans think MS is giving it free is a big zing! :) But see the screenshot i have attached. On homepage, it will ask to install Silverlight. Again MS is doing a promotion of silverlight as i think :). But though, nice to check if you need something.

Firefox tweaking for Broadband

By default, Firefox is optimized for dial up connection. You can change the browser settings so that it can be used to browse with DSL or cable or other broadband links. In order to change the settings, first you need to edit config file. Type about:config in the address bar and press enter. Then enter network.http in the filter field and enter the following changes.

1. Double click on ‘network.http.pipelining’ and set the value to true.
2. Double click on 'network.http.pipelining.maxrequests’ and in the dialog box enter a higher value than the default value 4. 15 is an ideal value.
3. Double click on ‘network.http.proxy.pipelining’ and set the value to true.
4. Right click on the page and select New->Integer. Enter nglayout.initialpaint.delay and then click ok. Set the integer value of this to 0 and click ok.

Google has been sued, asked for $77.5 Million

One more 'sue' news. And this time one of the biggest companies caught. Yes, Google has been sued for copyright violation, for posting news from Belgian newspaper on Google news. What is this i mean? If Google is doing this since years, posting news and links to others, no one has complained till now.

What you think? Is this right? Or the newspaper company wants a benefit from Google? What Google will do? Because they just want their hands out of such things ASAP. I think they will pay something appropriate.

A group of Belgian newspaper publishers wants Google to pay up to €49.2 million (US$77.5 million) in damages for violating copyright law by publishing their articles on Google News and caching their web pages.

It made the claim in a court summons served last week, and made public on Wednesday. The Belgian publishers' group Copiepresse first filed suit over the Google News service in April 2006.

MessangerGroup - Why it is needed?

I just published the news of MessengerGroup feature. I have tried it, made my own group and invited friends. But what i think is what Microsoft is up to? I mean what is the benefit of this grouping?

As all of us know, we can create a group chat in Windows Live messenger then who wants this so called MessengerGroup?

The only thing unique about it is, who ever adds it in their MSN contact list will be a member of the group automatically. You don't need to invite them all again. Your conference is saved forever in your contact list. You just open it and chat to your friends.

It has some commands to get information about the users and the service itself. You can type '/help' in the input and it will show you all the commands. I will not talk here about all of them, but let's see some important ones.

write '/open' or send a 'nudge' - will show sidebar of user list.
/users - shows all registered users in this chat group.

But i don't think people will use this one if they are comfortable with Messenger conference. This one can be added to your website also, but i am not including it here.

Give your inputs, why this one is released when MSN has conference feature? I mean invite users into some chat is not so irritating. Ya may be if you have a hell lot of contacts in your list, then you can use this so no need t remember things!
